Martin Luther King Jr. Education Center Academy Looks to the Future

More than 50 years ago, a small group of families trusted the care of their children to a newly opened early childhood center in Detroit called Martin Luther King Jr. Day Care Center, which was founded by the Rev. Havious Green and his wife, Julia, in 1971.

Constance Price's parents were original Detroiters, who shared a vision for excellent education in the city - not only for their eight daughters, but for all children. Today, she leads Martin Luther King Jr. Education Center Academy as one of the best schools in Detroit, which also happens to be the original daycare center her parents built back in 1972.
